BENTON, ILLINOIS — Franklin Hospital, located in Benton, Illinois, is pleased to announce that Dr. Rodney Miller, General Surgeon, will be begin his practice in July. The practice in Benton is located at 201 Bailey Lane, 2nd floor.
Franklin Hospital District CEO Jim Johnson shared, “Many in the community may know Dr. Miller and we are happy to have him re-join our medical staff as General Surgeon.”
Dr. Miller obtained his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry & Biology from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee and was then accepted to Medical School at James H. Quillen College of Medicine at the East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. He served as Junior Professor of the Department of Surgery and completed his residency at James H. Quillen College of Medicine as well.
Dr. Miller served in the U.S. Army including a tour of duty as a Field Surgeon in Afghanistan as well as a Training Officer with the Tennessee National Guard. Dr. Miller has spent a majority of his career working in the Southern Illinois area and serves as an instructor at the Southern Illinois School of Medicine.
Dr. Miller’s scope of practice includes but is not limited to:
General surgery (with special interest in minimally invasive general surgery-abdominal reconstruction and endoscopy)
Appendectomy
Central venous access surgery (port A catheter, mediports)
Cholecystectomy (gall bladder)
Colectomy, Bowel and Colon resection
Colonoscopy
Diagnostic laparoscopy
Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
Hemorrhoidectomy
Hernia repair (laparoscopic & open)
Mastectomy
Skin cancer surgery
Dr. Miller will host clinic on the 2nd floor and provide surgical services at Franklin Hospital.
